1. Service Description

CottageLaunch ("made.kitchen," "we," "us") provides a document preparation and website hosting service for cottage food operators in Los Angeles County, California. We prepare and file cottage food permit applications on your behalf and provide a hosted website at [yourname].made.kitchen.

We are a document preparation service. We are not attorneys, licensed permit consultants, or affiliated with Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

2. What We Do

• Prepare your LA County Cottage Food Operation (CFO) registration application based on information you provide
• Mail your completed application and county filing fee (check) to LA County on your behalf via USPS
• Build and host your ordering website at [yourname].made.kitchen
• Provide email updates on permit status as we receive information

3. What We Do Not Do

• Guarantee permit approval — approval is at LA County's sole discretion
• Provide legal advice regarding cottage food laws or regulations
• Process payments between buyers and sellers — Venmo payments are peer-to-peer between buyer and seller
• Inspect your kitchen, food, or labels

4. Fees and Refunds

Our service fee is $497 (Class A) or $697 (Class B), which includes the LA County filing fee ($118 Class A / $292 Class B) as a pass-through cost.

County filing fees are non-refundable once submitted to LA County, per LA County policy. If your application is rejected due to incomplete information you provided, we will assist with resubmission at no additional charge.

Our service fee portion is non-refundable once application preparation has begun.

5. Your Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, truthful information on your permit application
• Be the primary resident at the address listed on the application
• Complete a California-approved food handler training course within 3 months of registration
• Comply with all applicable California cottage food laws, including labeling requirements
• Display "Made in a Home Kitchen" and your CFO registration number on your website and product labels
• Maintain appropriate food safety practices

6. Website Hosting

Your website at [yourname].made.kitchen is hosted at no ongoing charge. We reserve the right to deactivate any website that:

• Sells items not permitted under California cottage food law
• Contains misleading, fraudulent, or illegal content
• Is associated with an expired or revoked permit

If your site is deactivated, we will notify you by email with the reason. Your data is preserved and the site can be reactivated once the issue is resolved.

7. Buyer Transactions

All payments between buyers and sellers on made.kitchen sites are peer-to-peer Venmo transactions. made.kitchen does not process, hold, or facilitate these payments. We take no commission or percentage of orders. Refund disputes between buyers and sellers are handled directly between those parties.

8. Privacy and Data

Your home address is collected for permit filing purposes only and is never displayed publicly on your website. See our Privacy Policy for full details on data collection, use, and your rights.

9. Limitation of Liability

made.kitchen's liability is limited to the service fee you paid. We are not liable for permit rejections, delays in county processing, loss of business, or any damages arising from the use of our service.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to active customers at least 30 days before taking effect.
